Don’t be afraid to repeat yourself – IELTS speaking tip
We’ve got another IELTS speaking tip for you today. The tip I have for you is don’t be afraid to repeat yourself. Now when I’m saying this I mean when your answering a question that the examiner has asked you in the speaking test, maybe there’s an idea that you’ve given him and you want to explain yourself and maybe you end up repeating the same idea twice.
And I think it’s okay to do this because native speakers do this naturally, to make our point very clear we do repeat ourselves. But it’s also important that you show you know you’re repeating yourself. So using phrases like, “As I said before…” and repeating yourself again.
But maybe trying to use different language, when I say don’t be afraid to repeat yourself, you’re repeating the same idea twice but maybe it’s good not to repeat the vocabulary. But again don’t be afraid to do this because people do this naturally in natural speaking.
So, I mean don’t be afraid to repeat yourself. It’s something we do but make sure you make the examiner aware that you know you’re repeating yourself by using phrases such as this. As I said before, don’t be afraid to repeat yourself.
